Splendor In The Grass: The story of the L.H.L.L. Promo Photo Shoot

It started out as an idea; just a scribble in a notebook. A dream, if you will.
Then, one day, while flipping through that notebook, the idea was refreshed and added to. Characters were developed. Nine different, stand-out characters.

Should it be written as a book? A movie?

A series?

It definitely had the potential to be either of the three. But, finally, it was decided that it would be written as a feature-length script. Suddenly, the characters and potential plot-lines took interesting turns and it was given a title. Then, everything just...flowed.

That was the tone of Saturday, January 29th, 2011. Everything just flowed.

This process of making "Little High, Little Low" has been a year in the making. Plently of time was taken getting all of the right people involved; the cast, the crew, the producers, potential directors.

Finally, after countless months of back-and-forth emails, the cast of L.H.L.L. finally got together to take promotional pictures for the film. This was the first time they all met, but you wouldn't have been able to tell. Everyone just clicked instantly, like they'd all known each other for years and then some.

Below are candid pictures of that day. It started off with call-time being 8am for the cast the Hair Stylist's, Dianna Lopez, salon in Corona. "Well, hello, actors!" she greeted them, throwing her hands up with a big smile. A big thank you to Dianna for letting us be apart of her day and for doing such a wondering job with the hair! At about 10:30am, all the actors had assembled together at the Salon, then were off (following in each other's car) to the location on Temescal Canyon Road. This is where Kristin Rogers (the photographer), Brianne Buskey (the set designer) and Sheila Northcutt (the Make-Up artist) were waiting for us.

The journey with Kristin has been the longest. She has been such a blessing and everyone was so happy to have her on board. Not only will be be the set photographer for the film, she will also be one of the Director's of Photography. Her work is very similar to the vision of how the film was seen while written. Once there, the cast was greeted by Kristin and Brianne. Down below in the ravine, they were greeted by Sheila and got straight into make-up.

It was a long, beautiful day. Everything came out just right. Everyone - both the cast and crew - felt like long-time friends by the end of it.

So, whats next for the "Little High, Little Low" crew? It's being filmed this summer in New Orleans, Louisiana. And then the next read-through of the script is going to be on March 5th!

It was such a great experience; everyone is looking forward to working with each other again - and soon!
